Week 10: Fire Safety Week and Halloween Party!!
A little about our week...
We had two 4-day weeks in a row with a day reserved for Halloween. We decided to do a second week focusing on the letter "F". This week we focused on fire safety and took a trip to the Jay fire station. For some, it was the first time riding a bus and imagine their surprise when Ms. Joanne's therapy dog, Callie, was in the front seat!
At the fire station all students were able to "drive" the UTV rescue Rangers, climb up into the bucket of the tower truck and learn about fire safety. We also had a school-wide fire alarm practice evacuation, practiced the "Stop, Drop and Roll" procedure and recited the emergency number: 911. Please show your child how to dial 911 in case of an emergency and explain what a real emergency would be that would require a call to 911.
Thursday was our dress-up day at school and everyone had a great time! We played musical chairs (without any tears I might add)! Everyone was such a great sport! We also played Halloween BINGO, paraded into the other classrooms to show off costumes and had some delicious, healthy treats for snack. Thanks to everyone who supplied food for our special day! Ms. Anna made fire trucks at art with them and then we changed them out of costumes to go out.
As soon as we got outside, the sprinkles started and it soon turned to heavy rain. With clear skies in view, we stayed outside with most staying sheltered under the play house or school eves along the playground side. Some decided to wander into the puddles or stand under the dripping eves. We changed those who had an extra set of clothes available, but noticed not all had an extra set of dry clothes. Please check your child's cubby; there is so much opportunity to need a change of clothes! Between art, recess, the water table, or spilled milk at lunch, the day is full of possibilities for a mess to be made. Thanks!
